Phone Call and Orientation Interview

On Tuesday, 11/24 , Brad and I had a conference call with our China social worker. Her name is Emily and we spoke for over an hour about our family, the adoption process and so much more. It was nerve wracking to finally begin the homestudy process...but also so exciting at the same time!
We were able to ask more in depth questions about the process, and begin to plan the next stage of our journey. I had this conversation in the van...all was quiet and the girls were in their CC classes. Perfect timing, no? Otherwise I wasn't quite sure how me occupied for an hour on the phone was going to play out!!

Our homestudy worker is named Sella. She emailed us the next day about what we can expect during the upcoming 4 visits from her. There is A LOT involved, but it seems like she will keep us on the ball and moving at a good pace to have our study completed in 10-12 weeks. We will have 3 joint interviews, 1 individual interview, a home tour, observation of our bio children, many educational homework assignments, and a lot of planning for life post adoption. I am excited about gaining wisdom and guidance from this process. After discussing the homestudy portion she went through in detail about how the China process works. The more familiar we become with hearing the terms, initials, and acronyms the better it all feels. After she answered our questions- she asked us each individualized personal questions. It was a long conversation...but it left me more and more excited and assured about our journey. We look forward to nailing down our first visit this coming week.

On anther note- we have started a t-shirt design process with a company. I am very excited and cannot wait to announce our t shirt designs and start our presales! Just the ability to spread orphan awareness through something as simple as wearing a t shirt makes my heart happy. Hoping to have those details figured out this week also.
